What Is Agar Tuff Gloss?
Agar Tuff Gloss uses advanced polymer technology to create a dual-action polish that is both ultra-durable and beautifully glossy. With extra-high solids, Tuff Gloss requires fewer coats than a standard acrylic sealer and saves time and labour on setup. It has high scratch resistance and responsive buffability, helping floors maintain their shine and extending the time between strips and reseals.

How Does Agar Tuff Gloss Work?
Agar Tuff Gloss dries to form a colourless, tough, metal cross-linked acrylic film with an outstanding gloss level and a high degree of scratch repair when burnished. Floors coated with Tuff Gloss keep their sparkle through the day thanks to the polymer’s high abrasion resistance. Tuff Gloss is colourless, non-slip and mark resistant, with a faint ammonia odour during application.
How to Apply Agar Tuff Gloss
Strip old finish or prepare a new floor using Ultrastrip, Demolish or STR-36, then flood-rinse vinyl or terrazzo floors to remove stripper and dirt (do not flood-rinse timber). Burnish vinyl floors and fringe-mop to remove dust before coating; do not burnish bare terrazzo or stone. Apply 1-2 thin basecoats with a fringe or bucket mop, using Agar First Base for concrete, marble and terrazzo. Once the basecoats are tack-free, apply 2 coats of Agar Tuff Gloss, for a total of 3-4 coats. After at least 24 hours, and up to 2-7 days later, clean the floor and apply 2 more coats of Tuff Gloss, bringing the total film to 5-6 coats depending on how many basecoats were used. Maintain the finish with Autoscrub, Sympol or Scrub’N’Shine, and recoat heavy-traffic areas as needed. Do not apply Agar Tuff Gloss to a very cold floor of 9°C or less.

Acrylic sealers such as Agar Tuff Gloss are not suitable for use on non-porous ceramic or porcelain tiles. Before attempting to seal ceramic tiles, pre-test the sealer on one tile first: if it stays bonded after drying, it is safe to use across the floor; if it peels off, Agar Stone Block should be used instead.
