Janitorial Equipment Buying Guide

Many sites colour-code cleaning tools to reduce cross-contamination. The scheme below reflects common practice in Australia, but codes vary between organisations, so always follow your own site’s cleaning plan.

Care tips that extend equipment life:

• Rinse squeegee channels and replace worn rubbers as soon as edges nick or harden, as a damaged blade causes streaks.
• Use abrasive steel wool and scourers only on surfaces that tolerate them; test on a hidden spot before using on stainless steel or coated finishes.
• Store poles and handles dry and fully retracted to protect locking mechanisms.
• Wipe down trolleys and tools at the end of each shift so soil is not carried between areas.

Brands in Our Janitorial Range

For window work, the Quad Pro range includes the Quad Pro aluminium squeegee channel and rubber and the Quad Pro swivel squeegee handle, which pair with the Edco Economy Extension Pole for higher panes. Edco also supplies the Edco Merri Magic Eraser Sponge for scuffs and marks, and ABC provides ABC Steel Wool in graded sleeves for restoration and scouring jobs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What janitorial equipment does a new cleaning contract need?

Most contracts start with a trolley, colour-coded cloths and mops, a squeegee and window kit, scourers and a litter picker, plus the chemicals and consumables specific to the site.

Do you sell replacement squeegee rubbers?

Yes. Quad Pro replacement rubbers are available so you can refresh a blade without replacing the whole channel.

Is a magic eraser sponge safe on all surfaces?

It is mildly abrasive, so test it on gloss paint, polished surfaces and screens before general use.
